THERAPIES

Therapy is individualised for each person as no two people are the same. Usually therapy is a series of sessions to work on specific issues you have. Techniques include any one or combination of the following:

  • Trauma Informed approach based on training as outlined here

  • Polyvagal informed approach to Therapy

  • Self care (Physical, emotional, mental, spiritual) including self compassion

  • EMDR Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing & Flash technique

  • Focused Psychological therapies

  • Neurodiverse informed care also lived experience of Neurodiversity

UNDERLYING PRINCIPLES

Therapy is informed and contained within the following Hakomi Principles:

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is a core part of all the therapies I use.

The mindful state of consciousness is very different to ordinary states of consciousness. Using Mindfulness, we slow down and pay attention internally to whatever is present in the moment without judgement. This state of awareness is core to successful therapy work. Once we establish mindfulness we can start to access the unconscious. We are like an iceberg with the tip of the iceberg our ordinary everyday waking consciousness. In a safe and supportive way we can start to become aware of what is submerged below the water. There is a lot of research evidence now that shows the benefit of waking up this noticing part of the brain.

Organicity

Organicity principle trusts that there is an intelligence in you that knows how to heal. We trust that you have an inherent organising system that moves towards change and evolution. Trusting this, we move at the pace needed by the client and therapist.

Non Violence

Change happens without force. The therapy space is non judgmental and aims to create safety as a foundation.

Unity

Unity says we are all interconnected. We experience this principle from a sense of self with healthy boundaries.

Mind Body Spirit Holism

I have already spoken about this here. Holistic therapy makes space for the wisdom Body, Mind and Spirit are interacting with a continuous flow of information. Access to information can be through any elements of this system.
